Woman is Art

If you can look at her in the harsh light,

the direct, eyes squinting in the sun, ghoulish light,

you have properly seen a woman.

If you can touch her without her marble skin,

when she is broken and edged,

you have properly held a woman.

Woman is art,

and art is meant to be held and looked at,

with grace and meaning,

even when she is hard to hold and look at.

Woman has short and long hair,

soft and strong jaw,

big muscles and curves,

no mold or pedestal she fits in.

Woman is art,

and if you can accept her as she is,

you have properly loved a woman.
